Maize Processing Machine to Produce Beer

The traditional technology uses 70% malt and 30% rice to produce beer. 43kg barley is needed for 100kg malt. Corn is an high yielding crop with a low price.  It reduces costs to use corn as raw material to produce beer with maize processing machine.

Maize is sometimes used as a partial substitution of barley malt, as maize is cheaper than malt and it does not do any harm to the taste. However, it does give the beer a lighter colour. Maize can be added to the brew as flour, grits or as flakes.

There are many and different reasons to use maize : price, availability, and influence on the final product are the main reasons. In many countries malt is only available on a limited scale. In those countries malt will be replaced as much as possible by replacements that are available in large quantities. In Europe maize grits is mainly used, whereas in Asia rice will be used more often.

Malt renders a typical strong malt taste to heavier beers. This taste can be softened by using maize and rice products, other unmalted grains (wheat, oat, …) and sugars (dextrose, candy, honey). Maize can be added to both lager and heavier beers. The addition of maize will not be mentioned on the label. The addition is also not so much seasonal, but rather depends on the availability and the price at that specific moment in time.

Corn is different from the color, which can be divided into red, yellow, white. But it is divided into horse tooth, half horse tooth, hard and half hard particles, etc. From the type, can be divided into powder corn, sweet corn and waxy maize. The horse tooth has the highest yield and it is widely planted. It is beneficial to use maize processing machine to produce beer.
