A New Organic High-tech Absorbent, Porous Starch

porous starchPorous starch is a substance existing in nature. In the last 70s-80s, researches found porous starch particles in animal manures and residues after starch fermenting to alcohol and glucose. In 1998, Japanese Changgu Chuanxin first posed the definition of porous starch, hydrolysate of crude starch after degradation under gelatinization temperature by hydrolytic enzyme.

It is a highly efficient, nonpoisonous and safe absorbent widely used in food, agriculture, medicine, papermaking, printing, cosmetics, detergent, adhesive industries. It is a fundamental material of troche. Medicine is absorbed in starch holes, increasing curative effect by slowly releasing and preventing loss.

In agriculture, porous starch acts as pesticide and carrier of herbicide, effectively controlling volatilization, decomposition and release of farm chemicals to prolong its validity. In food industry, it is the embedding agent of oil, fat-soluble fiber, healthcare substances and pigment, reducing loss during storage period. It is also a substitute of powdered oil and fat. In cosmetics, porous starch absorbs effective constituents such as moisturizer and surfactant, reducing skin stimulus, making it moist and smooth. When applied on the skin, the functional substances are released by friction. In detergent industry, Porous starch absorbs fragrance and fabric softener before embedding them to make particle addictive into detergent, adding fragrance and removing odor. In adhesive industry, it increases stability to extend validity by adding porous starch. It strengthens leakproofness, wearproofness and storage capability when porous starch is added to protective layer of thermal recording material. In papermaking industry, the starch is applied to coating material to improve paper strength; it can also decreases an excess of ink during printing.
